Located off of Hwy 52, (future I-74), 25 miles north of Winston Salem, 12 miles south of Mount Airy sets beautiful Pilot Mountain. With a population of 1,283 and growing, we pride ourselves with a strong sense of community. Even with the rapid growth we are experiencing, we still have that small town atmosphere.
Located within the town limits are Pilot Mountain Middle School and East Surry High School. Located within four miles of the town limits are two K-5 elementary schools, Shoals and Westfield, both of which are exemplary. East Surry High School offers an extensive curriculum and an excellent athletic program. Pilot Mountain Middle School has the distinction of being a North Carolina School of Excellence and has a nationally recognized physical education demonstration school.
Come by and visit Pilot Mountain. Have a picnic lunch at Pilot Mountain State Park and hike the trails. See the breathtaking view from the lookouts along the trails. Then come on down and take a stroll down Main Street and enjoy all that Pilot Mountain has to offer.

Adjacent to the property is the Pilot Mountain Park, decorated with miles of walking and hiking trails, and wildlife habitats. And to promote green transit, Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation [PART] has two hard-top pick up locations inside the town limits for daily commuters working throughout the Piedmont Triad. Pilot Mountain provides a comfortable offering of amenities for its residents.
